Rice Stink Bug Control in Large-Plot Trials
نویسنده
چکیده
Eleven large-plot trials were located across nine counties in eastern Arkansas to evaluate the efficacy of select insecticides on the rice stink bug. Lambda-cyhalothrin, zeta-cypermethrin, methyl parathion, and carbaryl achieved initial control. However, only lambda-cyhalothrin and zeta-cypermethrin maintained significantly lower counts of the rice stink bug at 14 days after treatment (DAT). Lambda-cyhalothrin had significantly less percent peck than the untreated check. Zeta-cypermethrin, lambdacyhalothrin, and methyl parathion (0.75 lb ai/acre) achieved statistically greater adjusted crop values than the untreated check.

Feeding Preference, Fecundity, and Egg Hatch of Rice Stink Bug, Oebalus pugnax (F.) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) on Artificial Diet, Rice, and Alternate Host Grasses
Feeding preference, mating frequency, fecundity, and egg hatch of rice stink bug, Oebalus pugnax (F.), were examined in the laboratory. Adult rice stink bugs were allowed to feed on one of four different food sources including barnyardgrass, dallisgrass, ryegrass, and a new artificial rice flour diet. Initially, a higher percentage of females fed on all food sources than did males. Ryegrass and...
متن کاملControl of Rice Stink Bugs with Foliar Application of Dinotefuran and Clothianidin
The rice stink bug [Oebalus pugnax (F.)] is one of the important pests commonly found in Arkansas rice fields. When outbreaks in fields reach critical levels, an insecticide application is an option. Pyrethroid and organophosphate insecticides usually give excellent contact mortality, but both groups lack any significant residual activity. Two insecticides, dinotefuran and clothianidin, were te...
متن کاملPEST MANAGEMENT: INSECTS Volatiles Induction in Rice Stink Bug Host Grasses and Rice Plants
Rice stink bug (RSB), Oebalus pugnax F., is an important pest of heading rice in the United States. Little is known about plant volatiles production following herbivory by rice stink bug. RSB feeding induced volatiles production in different RSB host grasses and rice varieties, and may help explain RSB movement to heading rice. Limonene and methyl salicylate (MeSA) were found in varying amounts...

A two-year study was conducted in South Carolina wheat (Triticum aestivum L. (Poales: Poaceae)) fields to describe spatial and temporal dynamics of stink bugs (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), which were sampled weekly with sweep nets. In 2010, the main phytophagous stink bugs caught in a grid sampling plan across two fields were the brown stink bug, Euschistus servus (Say), the rice stink bug, Oebalu...
متن کاملExpedient synthesis of bisabolenol stink bug pheromones via stereodefined cyclohex-2-enones
We recently synthesized all stereoisomers of 1,10-bisaboladien-3-ol and 10,11-epoxy-1-bisabolen-3-ol, including three stink bug pheromones, via a rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric addition of trimethylaluminum to diastereomeric mixtures of cyclohex-2-enones. However, yields of trans isomers were low, and scaling reactions using expensive catalysts were cumbersome. Now we describe a new synthesis of ...
